Mr. Hasnain Zafar Baloch

Hasnain Zafar Baloch is a distinguished leader in Digital Learning, serving as Manager of Digital Learning, Teaching, and Learning at MILA University. In this pivotal role, he is instrumental in the strategic development, meticulous implementation, and ongoing management of online learning programs and initiatives. His expertise ensures the effective delivery of educational content across digital platforms, significantly enhancing accessibility and engagement for a diverse learner base. With over twenty-five years of hands-on experience, Hasnain has consistently driven the integration of e-Learning and technology-enhanced learning within higher education. His profound impact is further evidenced by his appointment as Module Coordinator for eLearning for Health Professions Education, overseeing the PG Certificate, Diploma, and Master of Health Professions Education programs. Beyond his institutional responsibilities, Hasnain is a recognized international expert. He serves as a section editor for the Journal of Medical Education for Future Demands (JMEFD) and holds a Visiting Professorship in eLearning at the School of Medical Education and Learning Technologies, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. Additionally, he is an affiliated faculty member at Smart University of Medical Sciences, Iran. His international contributions extend to his role on the advisory committee for the development and quality assurance of the new MSc Health Professions Education (HPE) program at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman, where he focuses on Technology Enhanced Learning and contributes to course design, particularly in Digital Informatics in HPE. Hasnain holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia.

This one-hour webinar introduces the core concepts, design principles, and educational value of Mobile Collaborative Informal Learning (MCIL) in higher education.

Participants will explore how smart mobile devices and applications can extend collaborative learning beyond the classroom, enabling informal, just-in-time, socially connected, and learner-centered learning experiences.

Learning Outcomes

 

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Define MCIL and distinguish it from classroom-based and individual mobile learning.
  • Identify the four core components of the MCIL design framework:
    • Activities or objects
    • Smart devices
    • Collaborative knowledge
    • Collaborative learning
  • Understand collaborative learning design that supports socially connected and learner-centered interaction in informal settings.
  • Explore the collaborative affordances of smart devices, including portability, connectivity, social connection, and context sensitivity.
  • Apply TPACK-informed thinking to align mobile technologies with pedagogy, content, and learning outcomes.
