Dr. Naweed Imam Syed
Dr. Naweed Imam Syed is a Professor of Medicine at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary. With a B.S. and M.S. in Neurophysiology from the University of Karachi and a Ph.D. from the University of Leeds, his research explores the cellular and molecular mechanisms of brain development, synaptic plasticity, and neuronal connectivity. He is a Full Member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and a researcher at the Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute.
Here are some Objectives:
By the end of the webinar participants should be able to
- How brain circuits are put together during development and communicate through synapses.
- How can we mitigate anesthetic-induced cytotoxicity.
- How might various anesthetics affect neuronal communications – impact their viability – and alter brain cell connectivity (with some specific examples).
- Do anesthetics perturb learning and memory invoking cellular, molecular and genetic mechanisms.
